Lambertville, New Hope and Peddlers Village

The Moorestown Mall was having a fashion show at 1pm today featuring Alyssa Milano’s new line of clothing called Touch. Touch is basically Major League Baseball’s licensed apparel for women. I wasn’t really up for watching a fashion show or standing around a crowd, so scratch that off the list of things to do today. Alyssa Milano was signing autographs after the show around 3pm, but there was a catch. You have to purchase Touch Apparel from a participating BC Sports location to get a ticket to be able to wait on line to get an autograph. I didn’t feel like spending money on overpriced clothing just to get a Alyssa Milano’s signature. Crystal and I had no plans for today except for going to the Moorestown Mall so that I could get my eyes checked and order contact lenses. My eye doctor is located in the Lenscrafters and luckily for me, they accept walk-ins. The doctor checked my eyes by first dilating them, which takes about 10-20 minutes and then using some weird headset with lights and lenses to looking into my eyes. Since my eyes are dilated, the doctor suggested to me to have someone drive me home. Crystal was happy to oblige, plus she got to go shopping while I was as the doctor’s office. Anyway, the doctor told me that my eyes were fine and I ordered my new contacts. After the doctor’s and the mall, we headed back to the house and contemplated on what to do for the rest of the day. Since it was a beautiful day, I wanted to spend they day outside somewhere. Crystal had a great idea and mentioned visiting the New Hope, PA area. She said it was a nice place to walk around and had lots of shops to check out. I’ve never been there before and she hasn’t been there in a while, so we were both up for it. Road Trip! We first drove up to Lambertville, NJ, which is right across the river from New Hope. The drive along the Delaware River on Rt. 29 was quite scenic. We passed through Trenton, Washington Crossing and drove down tree line highways, hills and valleys. We were lucky to find parking on a side street near the main street in Lambertville, Bridge Street. One thing I was surprised to see was the large amount of people here. There were so many people walking around, hanging out in Lambertville. There seems to be plethora of antique shops in this area. Crystal pointed out the Lambertville Station where here grandparents once ate. It was cool to walk around the town and see all the shops and restaurants. Right across the river from Lambertville, NJ was New Hope, PA. You can literally walk to New Hope from Lambertville via a sidewalk adjacent to a cantilever bridge over the Delaware River. This town reminded us of Key West, FL because of the area’s feel. There were a bunch of random shops, sidewalk cafes, bars and places to tour. There is a historic canal where you have an authentic experience of a mule drawn canal boat. The first place we visited, called L.S.D. was rather interesting. First of all, you are not allowed to enter the shop until you purchase a little plastic pig for 20 cents. The 20 cents is refunded if you purchase something and you get to keep the miniature pig. There were a bunch of random things for sale here, kind of what you would find in a Spencer’s Gifts and more. There were lots of retro type items like vintage clothing, old magazines, figures, etc. There were so many store in town, some which we looked around, one which we bought from and most we just walked by. Walking around town was lots of fun and a good experience every once in a while, but it is also tiring. We need to eat something soon before heading to Peddler’s Village. There were many restaurants in New Hope along Main Street, but many of them had expensive food that we weren’t were craving. Since there was nothing that we wanted to eat in New Hope, we walked back to Lambertville only to find more food we didn’t want to eat or pay for. We were both craving sushi for some reason, so we were lucky to find an affordable Japanese place in the area. The place was called Ota-Ya. This place was Zagat rated to have great food at a reasonable price. Crystal got a bean curd roll, I got a Crystal Roll and we each ordered a spicy tuna roll. The food was very tasty and the presentation was awesome. A couple near us ordered a couple of lobster dishes that looked very unique. Maybe next time we’ll order that. After dinner we headed over to Peddlers Village. It is about 5 miles west of New Hope, PA….. Bridge to Lambertville (or New Hope if you’re on the other side)

Bradford Estate Tasting

Wow I haven’t posted here in so long. This past week I just realized that as a pro-member of Flickr, I have no upload limit, so I started backing up all of my photos. Since I actually have some extra time on my hands this week, I’ve decided to update the website a bit. If I have enough time, I’ll get to redesign the side, add more content like b(ack)logs from the past. For now, just check out my old photo archives on Flickr. Things at work have been slow lately since I’ve started my new project. Prior to this, I was used to working overtime, on upto three projects at one time. Now, I’m actually enjoying the slow down at work. Yesterady, Crystal and I got some dinner at the Cherry Hill Mall and did some shopping before her cousin Rachael’s graduation celebration at Friendly’s. Rachael graduated last night and won 5 awards including lots of scholarship money. Congratulations Rachael! Today, Crystal, her mom and I went down to the Bradford Estate for our tasting. Her mom hasn’t seen the place yet, so we got to show her around the place before hand. Crystal and I have visited four places including the Bradford Estates and we find that this is the best of all of them because it has everything we want (atmosphere, location, single event hall and good food). We were pleasantly surprised with the tasting. The expectation was a bunch of small plates with a small sampling of the food. Instead we each got a large plate of food with a healthy helping of Chicken Francaise, Broiled Atlantic Salmon filet with lemon dill butter and Chateaubriand Bordelaise along with mashed potatoes and vegatables on the side. We were so pleased and stuffed that by the end of the tasting, we were ready to put a deposit on this place. So it’s offical, Crystal and I will be having our reception at the Bradford Estate =) After the tasting, we all got some ice cream from Lollipops, which is literally walking distance from my house.
